Why I love in-home sessions!

It's no surprise I love in-home sessions. I think I have mentioned it 100 times online, but it's true! I consider myself so lucky to live here in muskoka and get to photograph families surrounded by the beautiful nature we have! I do a lot of sessions near or in the water and don't get me wrong I LOVE those photos. BUT there is just something about an in-home session. They are more authentic, more raw, more truthful.

There are a lot of reasons I love in-home sessions but here are 10:

1. in-home sessions make it so much easier to capture your genuine connection. You are already comfortable with snuggling and cuddling up at home!

2. The images turn out to be a more honest portrayal of your family. We are all just more ourselves in the comfort of our own homes.

3. These sessions allow for more authentic moments and less opportunity for stiff posing.

4. kids seem to do better with in-home sessions! Young ones especially

5. They capture the beauty of your everyday life. These little moments at home make up our lives. I want to show you how beautiful that is!

6. versatility! There are usually a few corners with gorgeous light. We will move through those areas inside and then can head outside and play in the hard or sit on the front porch.

7. Breaks! Whoever needs one can easily take one. Dad needs a couple minutes - that's fine! A kiddo needs a break in their room - no worries!

8. I love to take a storytelling approach with my sessions and it is so much easier to do that in your own space. Your home naturally tells the story of you. The dishes in the sink, the kids toys on the floor. I love it all!

9. Nostalgia - I look back on my childhood home with so much love. Odds are your children will do the same! I would have loved to have beautiful keepsakes of that home

10. I love highlighting your personal style! I have been in so many homes now; big and small, old and new. No home is the same. You all have put time and energy into making your space special for you and your family. Let's honor the work you've done to get to where you are.

I just really love making art of your ordinary. I love finding the beauty in your rhythms and routines. This session with the Bowler family was no exception. I think it made me love these sessions even more!
